Fly overnight aboard your choice of quality airlines to China.

Day 2 Shanghai
You are greeted on arrival and driven to your modern hotel.

Day 3 Shanghai
Tour Shanghai's premier sights, from Yuyuan Gardens to the Bund to the Museum. Meet local youngsters at the charming Children's Palace. (B,L)

Day 4 Shanghai/Suzhou/Shanghai
Today, you will journey through ancient China to Suzhou ­ Venice of the Orient. You¹ll explore Suzhou¹s stylized gardens and lively street scenes, with stops at the Embroidery Institute and artisan shops whose skillfully stitched silks are prized by collectors. Return to Shanghai this evening. (B,L)

Day 5 Shanghai‹Yangtze River Cruise
Your Yangtze adventure begins at the bustling riverfront, as you board your sleek cruise ship and depart from the glittering city lights. (B,D)

Day 6 Yangtze River Cruise
Today¹s shore excursion: In Nanjing visit the tombs of the Ming Li Emperor and China's national hero, Sun Yat-sen. (B,L,D)

Day 7 Yangtze River Cruise
A spectacular day features Huangshan "Yellow Mountain", a beloved national treasure. (B,L,D)

Day 8 Yangtze River Cruise
A full-day to Mt. Lushan with some 200 Buddhist temples. (B,L,D)

Day 9 Yangtze River Cruise
Stop at Wuhan, crossroads of the Yangtze, and visit the Yellow Crane Tower, Guiyuan Temple, East Lake and the Hubei Museum. (B,L,D)

Day 10 Yangtze River Cruise
Take in the fairytale landscapes of Yueyang enjoy a lake cruise to Junshan Island and a visit to the graceful golden-roofed tower. (B,L,D)

Day 11 Yangtze River Cruise
Awake to a view of the famed Three Gorges, the river's most famous passage, and a tour of the massive dam project. Continue cruising through the locks of Gezhouba Dam to Xiling Gorge, 47-miles of boulder-strewn rapids flanked by cliffs and odd rock formations. Finally, enter the Wu Gorge, rising 2,000 feet above the water. (B,L,D)

Day 12 Yangtze River Cruise
Board a longboat for a trip on the Daning River rapids into the Three Small Gorges, flanked by towering cliffs, caves, tombs, and antiquities or sail through the beautiful Shennong Stream. Then cruise through Qutang. (B,L,D)

Day 13 Yangtze River Cruise
This afternoon, enjoy a shore excursion to either the "ghost city" of Fengdu; or Wanxian. (B,L,D)

Day 14 Chongqing/Dazu/Chongqing
After breakfast disembark in Chongqing and drive to Dazu, home to one of the greatest Buddhist sculptural collections known to exist in China. Explore the story-telling carvings in grottoes and cliffs of the Dazu countryside. (B,L,D)

Day 15 Chongqing/Xian
Return to Chongqing and fly to Xian. (B,L)

Day 16 Xian
Today view the ancient terra cotta warrior and horse excavation site, New Provincial Museum, historic City Gate and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Conclude the day with a fine banquet and stage show at the Tang Dynasty Theater. (B,L,SD)

Day 17 Xian/Beijing
Fly to the to the emperors' city Beijing. (B,L)

Day 18 Beijing
Tour the landmarks of imperial Beijing: the Forbidden City, closed to the public for 500 years; the Temple of Heaven, and Summer Palace. (B,L)

Day 19 Beijing
Today's tour showcases the Great Wall, built entirely by hand; and the Ming Tombs, before a gourmet Peking Duck dinner in Beijing. (B,L,SD)

Day 20 Beijing/USA
