Day 1 Arrive Kunming
Arrive Kunming in Yunnan Province, known as the City of Eternal Spring. Accommodation, 1 night:

Day 2 Kunming/Dali
A morning flight takes you to the old walled town of Dali in the heart of "China's Switzerland". Accommodation, 2 nights: (B,L,D)

Day 3 Dali
Today, you¹ll visit the Three Pagodas and Xizhou Village, onetime Ming Dynasty capital and now one of the best-preserved Bai towns. Then cruise across Erhai Lake to attend a traditional Bai Three Course Tea and cultural performance of dances and songs. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Dali/Lijiang
Continue overland to Lijiang, center of the Naxi, a tribe with an ancient religion and unique picture script that can only be read by shamans. Tour the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a bustling market square, streets crisscrossed by rivulets, and earthen-walled homes. Sample, if you like, the regional specialty called "across-thebridge noodles", before taking in a stirring evening performance of a traditional Naxi Orchestra. Accommodation, 2 nights: (B,L,D)

Day 5 Lijiang
Head into the countryside, with the blazing white peaks of Jade Dragon Mountain in view, for a visit to the Yufeng Monastery, renowned for its"Riot of Camellias" tree and religious frescoes dating from the 14th century. Also tour Black Dragon Pool, the flamboyant Phoenix Hall, and the Dongba Cultural Research Institute. (B,L,D)

Day 6 Lijiang/Zhong Dian
Continue journeying along the Yunnan-Tibet Road to Zhong Dian, an age-old caravan stop and still a kaleidoscope of ancient customs, dialects, and dress. In the markets and courtyard houses of this harmonious Lost Horizon world you may meet matriarchal Naxi, Bai, or the colorful equestrian Khampas. Accommodation, 2 nights: (B,L,D)

Day 7 Zhong Dian/Bitahai/Zhong Dian
Today¹s sightseeing tour will take you to Bita-Lake Nature Reserve, where you¹ll discover a crystal-clear lake and a primeval forest. This alpine lake sprawls over an area of 395 acres, at an altitude of 3,539 meters, with an average depth of 20 meters. The surface of the lake is spangled with jadeitelike isles, covered with graceful stands of trees and groves of azaleas in a variety of colors. You¹ll enjoy a pleasant cruise on the lake through the unadorned beauty of nature. (B,L,D)

Day 8 Zhong Dian/Kunming
Fly to Kunming, where you are at leisure to browse the markets and mingle with the colorfully- dressed people of the region's diverse ethnic groups. Accommodation, 2 nights: (B,L,D)

Day 9 Kunming
Set out to the dramatic Stone Forest, home of the Sani people, for a walk among the eerie limestone formations and a visit to a traditional Yi village. Enjoy a local cuisine banquet tonight. (B,L,SD)
