Day 2 Shanghai/Wuhan/Yangtze River Cruise
You¹ll set off on a morning tour of Shanghai's premier sights: the traditional Yuyuan Garden and the waterfront Bund from Shanghai's era as a European port. This afternoon, you¹ll fly to Wuhan and board your spacious, well-appointed Yangtze cruise ship. Enjoy dinner on board as we depart upriver this evening. Accommodation, 5 nights: (B,L,D)

Day 3 Yangtze River Cruise
Today, you¹ll go ashore in Yueyang to visit lush Junshan Island and other highlights. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Yangtze River Cruise
You¹ll tour the massive Three Gorges Dam site, then begin sailing through the legendary Three Gorges, including exiting Xiling Gorge and dramatic Qutang Gorge, and then dock in the lively market town of Wushan  (B,L,D)

Day 5 Yangtze River Cruise
You¹ll travel by longboats up the Daning River into the Three Small Gorges, lined with cliffs, caves, and antiquities or sail through the beautiful Shennong Stream. Then reboard ship and sail through Qutang Gorge, enjoying narratives and open views on deck. (B,L,D)

Day 6 Yangtze River Cruise
You¹ll visit either the Sichuan town of Wanxian or Fengdu "ghost city" today. (B,L,D)

Day 7 Chongqing/Beijing
You¹ll disembark this morning from your Yangtze cruise vessel in Chongqing and fly to Beijing. Accommodation, 1 night: (B,L)

Day 8 Beijing
Walk in the steps of ancient emperors today as you tour the powerful Forbidden City, hidden from public view for over 500 years; and the masterpiece Temple of Heaven, the embodiment of grace and harmony. Enjoy glorious aerial views during lunch at the fine revolving restaurant, before continuing to the Summer Palace, now a favorite recreational spot for locals. The pomp and grandeur of imperial China lives on in these historic landmarks so integral to the nation's soul. (B,L)

Day 9 Beijing
A walk along the Great Wall of China ranks high on the wish list of many travelers and today's excursion will confirm it is one of the world's great travel experiences. Time is given to stroll along its ancient stone promenade - linger at the towers and broad promenades, and view some spectacular scenery. After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant you will be driven to the Ming Tombs along the Sacred Way. Returning to the city, you will also visit the Beijing Cloisonne Factory, famous for traditional enamelware. (B,L)
